Great for fast translation of printed materal and for messages

This app is a must have. Set it to Eng > Eng + picture = OCR engine.

This app is awesome but it would be more awesome if it could convert pictures from my photos library to translated text. Also the OCR needs more improvement.

Love the app, and finally for once a company has truthfully told me whether they are working on Chinese support for OCR or not. Pictranslate--no reply and that was the end of that. Babelshot at least told me that due to hardware limitations they might revisit OCR for chinese when the new iPhone comes out and depends on whether the CPU is powerful enough! Thank you!! Thats what I wanted to know. Ill be sticking with babelshot...unless some app comes out with server side OCR recognition for Chinese characters!

Suprisingly accurate character recognition. But please add Japanese characters to the photo character recognition software. Thanks!

This version "reads" photographed items better (though not perfectly).

Some bad moments

Wrong Description! Does NOT support all the languages which are described (e.g. Estonia) - so I can only rate it with 1* I dont know how the App actually works...

It don’t recognize ANY thai letter perfect. Even not in big black font size on white screen. DONT BUY

Absolute crap, bought this app for Hebrew and all I get is just absolutely ridiculous gibberish, no use at all.

Would actually be useful if the app could recognize the language rather than the user setting it before taking a photo. Also why cant it recognize Russian or Ukrainian? A waste of money if you ask me. Use google. Its free and works better.

It does not work, I sent several emails and never got her proper response! it does not translate Japanese to English proper? I asked for guidance I I reloaded twice still does not translate like it shows in the video. I even set the example I had simple translation, I received no response.

Before the latest update my review was: "Often fails to recognize kanji correctly, even in a simple, clear photograph. Quality of Japanese to English translation awful - usually meaningless. Attempts to read katakana like kanji and cant cope with simple numbers. Complete waste of money." After the update, its still as useless as before. Heres the translation it gave me for a retail outlets opening hours and other details: "you want compatible with school-Sa-cycle> 邁 few days over · · · o K: to oO -I will be 22 this Sobatodoroki OO rise Mo~ya OK Tsukematoihettsui Te large Fumio! 丶We nutrient in H Sa-over-cycle surprise 嚢警竇 Ku 勒務 o I!! 丿 Ku Hettsuiwara 邁勒 Ol !"
